The mockingbird Lounge is a casual cocktail bar on Strawberry Hill in Kansas City Kansas. The bar has been operating for six years and has become a staple of the neighborhood. We provide food and drinks and a great view of downtown Kansas City, Missouri from our patio. I started The Mockingbird because I wanted financial freedom from my student loan debt and the service industry is what I know best. I bartended and bar managed through college and saw an opportunity in a Craigslist ad. I kept pushing forward, asking questions, filling out applications with the city until one day, I realized I could legally open this bar. All along the way I was waiting for someone to say, “Hey, you’re a 26 year old brown kid. You can’t do that.” But that never happened, and here I am six years later still working away at making this the best little bar possible.
