Kassumay brings distinct West African flavors to American consumers, while supporting female farmers in Senegal.
Kassumay is a producer of West African inspired fruit spreads, jams, and sparkling drinks. Owner Bacary is a Senegalese immigrant who wanted to introduce the United States to the distinct flavors of the hibiscus flower, native to the southern region of Senegal. Kassumay sells their products direct-to-consumer through its e-commerce site, as well as wholesale through grocery retailers like Whole Foods. Kassumays fruit spreads are 100% natural, simple, and made from traditional recipes using modern processes.
The funds from this investment offering will be used to purchase inventory and expand production of Kassumays new sparkling beverage line. Scaled production will allow Kassumay to pursue more wholesale contracts for the sparkling beverage product, and allow more accessibility to consumers. The quality of the beverage places it in the category of specialty beverage. However, Kassumay is working to keep lower prices than other specialty beverage brands, to attract more consumers and increase access to Kassumays West African flavors. Kassumays goal is to get its sparkling beverage into grocery stores like Whole Foods, which already sells its fruit jams.
