I found the Castle online in 2016 and first saw it in June of that year. I knew from the start that it was ideal for opening as a Bed & Breakfast. There is nothing like it in this region, so the need was there. My partner is a pastry chef; his talent was a huge help in making our business a success from day one. We opened with four and now have five suites for the guests. We are following our business plan, and as we have brought something new to this area, we are still getting a lot of attention from the media. We are in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on the west side of the state, on the Mississippi River. The region is rich in history and outdoor activities. We average 1500 guests per year and have gradually increased our rates as our good reputation has grown. We have won many awards, most importantly, the "most welcoming Bed & Breakfast in the US" award from TripAdvisor in 2019. We still have many areas in which to expand our business. The grand 19th-century home is doing well and seems to enjoy all the hundreds of people coming and going. I've been doing a lot of public speaking about our business to inspire others to follow their dreams.
